Data Deletion

1. Your right to erasure

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request the deletion of personal data that WrkGenie holds about you, where there is no overriding legal reason to retain it.

This page explains how to submit a deletion request and what to expect.

2. How to request deletion

To request deletion of your data, please email us at:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • Your full name
  • Your business name (if applicable)
  • The email address associated with your WrkGenie account or enquiry
  • A brief description of the data you would like deleted

3. What happens next

On receipt of your request we will:

  • Acknowledge your request within 5 business days.
  • Verify your identity to ensure we are acting on a legitimate request and not disclosing or deleting data belonging to someone else.
  • Review the data held and, where deletion is permitted, complete it within one calendar month of receiving a valid verified request.
  • Inform you of the outcome, including any data that cannot be deleted and the reason why.

4. Exceptions and retained data

There are circumstances where we may be unable to delete all data immediately or in full:

  • Legal obligations: Financial and accounting records, including invoices and payment records, may be required to be retained under UK tax law (HMRC requirements) for up to 6 years.
  • Dispute resolution: Data relevant to an active legal claim or dispute may be retained until the matter is resolved.
  • Backup systems: Deleted data may persist in encrypted backup copies for a short period (up to 30 days) before those backups are overwritten or purged as part of our standard cycle.

Where data is retained for legal reasons, we will clearly explain this in our response to your request.

5. WhatsApp data

If you have interacted with WrkGenie or a WrkGenie-powered business via WhatsApp, message logs and related metadata may be retained for support, auditing, and service delivery purposes. To request deletion of WhatsApp interaction data, please use the same email address above and indicate that your request relates to WhatsApp communications.

WrkGenie integrates with the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform. Message data processed by Meta is subject to Meta's Privacy Policy. For data held by Meta directly, you may also use Meta's own data deletion tools via your Facebook or Meta account settings.
